Before you begin

  • Permission to view and mark attendance for the class.
  • Correct term dates, school days and pupil class start dates.

Choose the class and school day

  1. Step 1. Open Students → Mark Attendance.
  2. Step 2. Select the class and check the date. Use the earlier-date option only for the day you intend to record.
  3. Step 3. Confirm the term and eligible pupil list. For a historical register, check that class start dates are correct.
  4. Step 4. If the page is being edited by someone else, follow the editing-status controls and wait or use the authorized handover process.

Review every pupil and confirm

  1. Step 1. Mark each pupil Present, Absent or Excused using the actual register.
  2. Step 2. Review any pupils who have no status. Earlier dates must be recorded explicitly rather than inferred from today’s defaults.
  3. Step 3. Save a draft if you need to pause. A saved draft remains incomplete.
  4. Step 4. Open the confirmation review, check the date, totals and any required explanation.
  5. Step 5. Confirm attendance and check the register’s confirmed state and calendar.

Correct a confirmed or historical day

Use the review and editing controls available to your role. Historical changes, closed-term changes and adding a pupil to an earlier register may need review permission and an explanation. If the save response is lost, reload the same class/date register before trying again.

  • Do not treat a missing register as all pupils absent.
  • If the source record cannot be recovered, use the unavailable/review workflow with a reason rather than invent statuses.
  • When another person changes the register, reload their latest version before editing again.
