Before you begin
- Permission to propose placements or commit promotion, as appropriate.
- The intended next-year class structure and reviewed year-end records.

Prepare the placement workspace
- Step 1. Open Year & Records → Promotion. The workspace is labelled Year-end classes.
- Step 2. Check the academic year, classes and pupil counts.
- Step 3. Review the suggested destination for every pupil. Do not assume all suggestions are approved decisions.
- Step 4. Use the class filters and bulk tools to work through groups, then check individual exceptions.
Choose each pupil’s next position
Teaching staff may propose decisions while a separate authorized account commits the year-end change. Check the reviewed status, target class availability and capacity guidance before continuing.
| Choice | Review needed |
|---|---|
| Move up | A higher destination class at the intended next level. |
| Repeat | A destination at the same school level. |
| Move down | A lower destination and a reason. |
| Skip a class | A higher jump with a reason. |
| Graduate / mark exited | The appropriate completion or leaving outcome. |
| Not decided | Resolve before committing the workspace. |
Commit and check both connected apps
- Step 1. Resolve unresolved placements and validation messages.
- Step 2. Review the final confirmation and counts before committing.
- Step 3. Verify the new year and pupil class rolls after completion.
- Step 4. If School Fees is connected, follow its placement-agreement workflow so future billing follows the intended classes.
- Step 5. Use Roster Health for mismatches or class-order warnings instead of promoting the same pupils a second time.
